Hill Health Center Expands Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services in the Valley

Janet_Tucker

Hill Health Center
has expanded counseling services at its Ansonia office in order to make outpatient mental health and substance abuse services more accessible to its Lower Naugatuck Valley patients.

The staff is available to provide individual, couples and group therapy, said Tricia Bellucci, LCSW, assistant clinical coordinator.

The counseling staff consists of master’s level clinicians, a psychologist and a bilingual (Spanish) psychiatrist.  She said the expansion was needed to handle the increasing numbers of medical patients with behavioral health needs being seen at Community Health Connection, the Center’s Ansonia office.  The Health Center has a strong commitment to integrating medical and behavioral health services so as to facilitate access to treatment.

Community Health Connection’s nearly 3,000 patients made 9,390 medical visits in 2006.  As a Federally Qualified Health Center satellite, the Ansonia site, located at 121 Wakelee Ave., sees mostly low-income people who may face financial barriers to obtaining primary care elsewhere.  Hill Health Center also operates a dental clinic in Derby in conjunction with Griffin Hospital.
