Office Locations
226 Dixwell Avenue
New Haven, CT 06511
Towns Served: New Haven, West Haven, Hamden, and East Haven
ESP operates five days week from
8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Early Stimulation Program Staff function in a transdisciplinary play-based model
and all interventionists have experience with infants and toddlers. Parents are
encouraged to be full members of the services team. A services coordinator is
available to introduce our extensive program of support and family training. The
service coordinator’s role is to ensure a program that is responsive to changes
in priorities and concerns of the family. ESP is staffed by well trained,
culturally competent Early Interventionists. In addition, a social worker, speech
language pathologist, physical/occupational therapist, or parent coordinator
will work with the child and family depending upon the identified and evolving
needs. Many of our staff are bilingual (Spanish).
Services are family centered, community based, coordinated, culturally competent
and easily accessible. Developmental intervention services are provided for
children ages birth to three and their families. Through play, children are
provided with experiences that promote growth in the areas of language, social
and emotional, fine and gross motor skills, adaptive and cognitive development.
Children are encouraged to explore their environment, express themselves, play
with their friends and become more independent. The goals of delivery are to
strengthen the capacity of families to meet the developmental and health-related
needs of their children who have delays or disabilities.
Providers and family members work together as a team to develop an
Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP). Services will be provided depending
on the needs of the child and family. Services are delivered at home and in the
community. Parents participate in the ESP program through home visits, parent
groups, workshops, social events and visits to ESP.
