Hill Health Reports Quarter Millon Raised in 35th Event

 

Hill Health Center raised $253,000 from its 35th anniversary dinner dance at Yale Commons May 8, it was announced today by Cornell Scott, chief exectuve officer.

 

About 325 guests attended.  The Center honored Arlyne R. Dildy, a Health Center founder; U.S. Rep. Rosa DeLauro, State Rep. Patricia Dillon, David Benfer and the Hospital of St. Raphael, Marna Borgstrom and Yale-New Haven Hospital.

 

Major corporate sponsors of the event included Citizens Bank, New Alliance Bank, St. Raphael Health Care System and Yale-New Haven Hospital.  In all, there were 57 corporate and individual sponsors.

 

Scott said that the proceeds would be used to make needed repairs and renovations to facilities.

 

Hill Health Center is a  non-profit community health center established in 1968.  It provides comprehensive preventive and primary care services from 17 locations in the New Haven area.  Services includes medical, dental, nutrition, nursing, behavioral health, plus programs for special populations, such as people who are homeless and persons with AIDS.

 

Its mission is to provide accessible comprehensive and quality primary and behavioral (mental health and substance abuse treatment) health care to low income and underserved residents in the greater New Haven area.  Last year, HHC served 26,300 patients who made 136,000 visits.  The Center manages an annual operating budget in excess of $24 million and employs 420 staff.
