Congratulations
to our Grants Development Department, our April Department of the
Month. This small group of dedicated staff work hard to bring in much
needed grant dollars to fund the programs and services offered by the Hill
Health Corporation. We are indeed grateful for their commitment and
significant effort to accomplish their vital goals, and without their work,
many of the services we offer today would not have been possible.

to Anthony Williams, Outreach Worker in our Public Housing Program.
Anthony works with people throughout the area who reside in public housing,
to help connect them to needed medical, dental and behavioral health care
services provided by the Hill Health Corporation. Anthony is well
respected by his coworkers, and his work is appreciated by the patients
and community that he serves. Thank you Anthony for the excellent work
that you do. |
Congratulations to our WIC program, for their dedication to the women, infants and children receiving services from our committed staff. They have worked with reduced staffing due to budget cuts from the grant funders, all the while working to maximize the number of clients that they serve. We appreciate their efforts, and are grateful for the fine work that they perform. |
Congratulations to Ms. Angela Batiste, Outreach Worker in our Perinatal Department who is our March Employee of the Month. Ms. Batiste has been recognized by her co-workers and the providers that she works with for her commitment to the the pregnant women receiving care in our Obstetrics and Gynecology Department. She works diligently to make sure that they get the necessary prenatal care to assure a good outcome for their pregnancy, and Angela has been seen as someone who will go above and beyond her job description to assure the best possible outcome for her clients. Congratulations to her for her excellent work! |

to Ms. Ramona Fain, Release of Information Coordinator in the HIM
Department for being recognized as our February Employee of the Month.
Ramona works diligently to make certain that outside requestors of health
information get what they need within days of receipt of the request.
She has received praise not only from within the organization, but from
those who work with her from outside the HHC, as she performs her job with
enthusiasm and courtesy to all. Thank you Ramona! |

to Carmen Mestre, Community Health Worker at Columbus Avenue Internal
Medicine, for being selected as our January Employee of the Month.
Carmen has been recognized by both the providers that she works with, and
by patients she cares for, as being a hard working nursing assistant who
is dedicated to providing quality and compassionate service to the patients

to the Coding Staff of the Hill Health Center, our Department of
the Month, for the quality work they continue to do. They review charts,
make certain that the coding used is accurate, and help to assure
that any services rendered by our providers gets appropriately coded to
maximize the billing revenue the Hill Health Center can receive. Their work
spans multiple sites and programs, and we thank them for the fine job they
do. |
Congratulations
to Colin Douglas, Hill Health Corporation Chef, for his outstanding
work in providing quality, delicious food to the patients, staff, and board
of the Hill Health Center. Colin has made wonderful improvements to
the food service at HHC. He has a positive attitude, works hard, and
makes certain that food is delivered to its intended location on time, hot,
and so very tasty. We are grateful for the work he is doing.

October Employee of the Month was Janice Hall, Speech Pathologist
at ESP, for her dedication to children and families served by the ESP Program.
Janet's fine work has been recognized by both her clients at ESP, as well
as by her co-workers. We are grateful for her contribution to the
mission of the Hill Health Center. Congratulations Janet! |
Our
Department of the Month for September was Northside, for their outstanding
work providing mental health and substance abuse counseling to our patients
in the Dixwell-Newhallville community. Their program has grown in size as
the demand for services has increased, and the staff has done a wonderful
job making sure that clients are served in a compassionate and timely way. Congratulations
to them. |
Congratulation
to Betsy Olivencia, Patient Registrar at Columbus Avenue. Betsy
has been recognized for always willing to go the extra mile to help patients
get appointments, cross cover for other staff in her department with referrals,
or anything else that needs to get done. We are pleased to have her
as an employee of the Hill Health Center and to honor her as our September
Employee of the Month. |

Department, the July Department of the Month. Providing vitally needed
eye care services to our patients, we are the only community health center
in CT fortunate enough to have an Ophthalmology department. We appreciate
their work, and recognize them as the July Department of the Month. |

Congratulations to Glenna Quinn, Physical Therapist at
our Early Stimulation Program, for the excellent work she does providing
PT to the children at ESP. Glenna’s fine work is appreciated not
only by the people she directly serves, but by the staff who work with
her as well. We are grateful to have her working for the Hill Health
Center and to recognize her as our July Employee of the Month.

| This month, we congratulate Stephen Farina, Laboratory Supervisor, for the fine work he has done in the laboratory. Stephen has played an important role providing oversight of many important lab functions, including quality control, trouble shooting problem areas, and helping keep the lab functioning smoothly. He has a positive attitude, is committed to his work, and we are pleased to recognize his efforts as our May Employee of the Month. |
| Our Methadone Maintenance Program, located at SCRC, is the newest and fastest growing program at Hill Health Center. With 215 clients receiving treatment every day, this important program has helped many men and women who have struggled with addiction to stabilize their lives and return to employment. The program has run smoothly, and the staff has done an excellent job providing services in support of the mission of the Hill Health Corporation. We thank them for their efforts as our May Department of the Month. |

an outstanding job processing laboratory specimens, running tests, and making

Our
March Employee of the Month is Clara
Tilley, Patient Accounts Behavioral Health Team leader for her
contribution to clients and staff in our Patient Accounts Department. She
continues to make a significant contribution in the Patient Accounts department,
and we are grateful for the work that she does. Thank you Clara.

We very much appreciate the excellent effort and commitment made by our Dental Staff in attending to the oral health needs of our community. Many of our patients come to the dental department with very significant dental needs, and our staff work hard every day to meet the challenges of our patients. Thank you for your effort. |
Our
February Employee of the Month was Tricia
Bellucci, MSW, Assistant Clinical Coordinator of our Ansonia
Mental Health Clinic. She has been a valued member of the Behavioral
Health Division having worked at SCRC, completed her MSW Internship at Grant
Street Partnership, and now helping start the newly expanded Adult Mental
Health Clinic in Ansonia.
Tricia is appreciated by clients and staff for the excellent work that she
does. Congratulations! |
Our February Department of the Month award was the Internal Medicine Department for their fine work keeping our patients healthy. As the largest of the medical departments, this dedicated group of staff takes care of a population of adults from the community, many who suffer from significant illness. We commend their fine work at helping keep our patients healthy.

Our
January Employee
of the Month is Les Harris,
Case Manager at Northside. Les has done an excellent job
at Northside during the past year, and his fine work is appreciated by both
clients and staff. Keep up the good work Les, and Congratulations! |
Our
January Department
of the Month is Health Information Management. The people
in this department are often the unsung heroes in our health care system,
making certain that providers have access to patient health records, that
information is accessible to all who need it, and that the privacy of our
health information system is maintained. Thank you HIM Staff for the
fine work that you do. |

As
reported last month, but not awarded the recognition until today, our December
Employee of the Month was Maira Echevarria, Patient Registrar
in Ophthalmology. Maira has worked hard to improve the flow of patient
care in that department, making sure that patients get appointments, are
greeted warmly upon arrival, and helping keep the flow of patients in the
Ophthalmology Department going smoothly. Your work is appreciated,
Maira. |
The
December Department of the Month
was our West Haven Health Center. They continue to work
hard in cramped quarters, serving the people of the West
Haven community.
We hope to find them a larger facility so that they can serve more people
and provide more excellent health care. Hang in there and keep up
the excellent job. |

who was awarded our November Employee of
the Month award this past Thursday. Sue has been described
as someone who goes above and beyond the job expectations, by always taking
on new tasks, helping clients and staff, and having a positive attitude

she makes to the mission of the Hill Health Corporation and her excellent
work at SCRC. |
Congratulations
to the Village of Power, our November
Department of the Month. This non-traditional program works
with African American women who struggle with addiction, homelessness, and
mental health problems, and provides them with an environment where they
are accepted, encouraged, and motivated to address their problems.
We are proud of the staff in this program for the great job they do in meeting
the challenges of the women that they serve.

Dental Assistant at our Columbus Avenue Dental Clinic for being our October
Employee of the Month. Teba is a dedicated employee
who cares about her patients. Her contribution

to the Child and Family Guidance
Clinic Support Staff of both our Columbus
and Dixwell CFG Clinics. These dedicated
employees are the ones who make it possible for our patients to be served
by the clinical staff. Making sure that patients
are scheduled, registered, have charts available for the clinicians, have
visits authorized for payment, and many other tasks assure the smooth flow
of service in the two Child and Family Guidance clinics. |

employee of the month, for his excellent work in our MIS Department.
Mike has been described as someone who has a good work ethic, and is dedicated
to keeping the HHC MIS needs met. He is responsive to the needs of

to the Davis Street School-based Clinic
Staff, the September Department
of the Month. The staff has done an excellent job caring for
the medical and behavioral health needs of the students at Davis Street
School, along with their efforts to make sure that the all of the needed
administrative tasks necessary for registering students for care and processing
billing paperwork are completed in a timely way. We congratulate their
efforts to keep the students in this school healthy. |

to Karen Cypress, our August employee of the month, who is being recognized
for her excellent work in the Early Stimulation Program. Karen is
described as someone who consistently follows through with the families
and children that she works with, someone with a positive attitude and a
smile for everyone. We are delighted to recognize her contribution
to the ESP Program. |

to our Pharmacy
Staff, the August Department of the Month. The
Pharmacy staff work hard to fill about 5000 prescriptions per month to assure
that our patients get the medications that they need. We
thank them for their good efforts, and look forward to their continuing

Employee of the Month for
July is Mary Osiecki, LPN
in Ansonia. Mary has been described by her co-workers as dedicated,
energetic, and the go-to person for help with most anything. She is
well liked by staff and patients alike, and goes above and beyond what the
job duties require, making her a real asset to the Ansonia community.

Our
July Department of the Month is
our Obstetrics and Gynecology department.
This department has evolved over the past year into a re-energized department
that is dedicated to serving the women of the Hill Health Center.
We look forward to the continued growth of the department as it strives
to meet the obstetrical and gynecologic needs of the Greater New Haven community.

Our
June Employee of the Month was Joy
Okafor, who works in our Grants department and assists managers of
grants with the financial reporting. Joy is well liked by staff who
work with her, and she has done a wonderful job taking on a larger volume
of work in her department pending the filling of a vacancy. We thank
her for her commitment to the HHC, and are happy to recognize her as Employee
of the Month for June. |
| Our June Department of the Month was our substance abuse Screening, Brief Intervention, Referral and Treatment team that works out of the 428 Columbus Avenue site. This dynamic team of two staff work to assure that as many patients as possible receive the benefit of a substance use screen while they are waiting for to be called into the exam rooms for their appointments. Their good work was recognized by someone outside of the HHC, who felt strongly enough about their efforts to nominate them for this award. Congratulations! |
Our
May Employee of the Month is Melissa
Rockett, psychiatric APRN at Grant Street Partnership.
She is someone who enjoys caring for even the most difficult clients,
and is described by her co-workers as being caring, compassionate,
knowledgeable and a real team player. We
are pleased to honor her for the good work that she does. |
Our
May Department of the Month is
the WIC Program.
Serving the needs of women and children to assure that they have
adequate nutrition, the staff continued their fine efforts even when a
vacancy was created by the resignation of the supervisor.
We are proud of their efforts and pleased to recognize them as
the Department of the Month for May. |

Department of the Month. As the largest provider of primary
care services in the Naugatuck Valley, the staff work hard to make our patients
feel welcome, and to serve their needs. Providing Pediatrics, Internal
Medicine, Dermatology, Podiatry, and Mental Health services, this clinic
continues to be a vital part of the community it serves. The staff
works as a strong team, and we are happy to recognize the efforts of the
health care providers, the nursing staff, and the support staff for

to Torya Smith, Administrative Assistant in the Adult Psychiatric
Clinic, our March Employee of the Month. Torya is
described by co-workers as someone always willing to help her co-workers
and the program clients with any needs. She provides assistance to
the clinic above and beyond her job requirements. We are pleased to

to our Urgent Care program at 428 Columbus Avenue.
Staffed by Physician Assistants Kristin Cushing and Shannon
Heaton) and one Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Pat Decker, this group
of women have one of the hardest jobs in Internal Medicine- caring for the
many men and women who come to the clinic with urgent needs- medical, social,
and sometimes emergent life threatening problems. They handle their
duties with compassion and expertise, and we are happy to name them as our
March Program of the Month. |

Inez has been described as someone who garners the trust and confidence of the adolescents she works with, and as someone who is frequently sought out by clients for the great work she performs. | Congratulations to the Homeless Healthcare Program, our February Department of the Month. Working with homeless men, women and children, the staff of this program provide services in shelters, soup kitchens, and even out on the street- wherever they can connect with someone to get them the care that they need. We are grateful for their work being done for this vulnerable population with such significant need. |

received the January Employee of the Month
award. Harold was nominated by several individuals who commented on
his positive attitude, dedication to making sure the delivery of Hill Health
Center lab specimens, correspondence, etc. arrive at its intended location.

their significant effort in managing our buildings, equipment, purchases
and environment of care. Their efforts have been especially valuable
as the HHC plans its various expansion and renovation projects, as well

Congratulations to the FMEA Team at Dixwell Avenue, our November Department of the Month. This group of staff from Northside and the Dixwell Health Center, performed a pro-active assessment of how best to assure that patients at Northside who receive mental health and/or substance abuse counseling get connected to medical care at the Dixwell Health Center, and those medical patients at Dixwell who need behavioral health services get connected to Northside. This collaboration has produced positive results for our patients. |

Jennifer is well liked by patients and staff, is Chair of the HHC Diabetes Committee, and does outreach to Senior Citizens in our Public Housing program. Congratulations to our Accounts Payable Department, our October Department of the Month. This group of dedicated staff make sure that all of the vendors who provide the HHC with equipment, services, and supplies get paid. They have been an under-appreciated group of staff when the cash has been tight, juggling who to pay when there was not enough money to pay everyone. We appreciate their efforts and thank them for the good work that they do each day. |
Congratulations
to our Adult Psychiatric Clinic, our September Department
of the Month. Having grown in size, with a fine staff of dedicated
clinicians, they attend to the behavioral health needs of a growing
number of men and women in our community. They provide compassionate
care, are much appreciated by their patients, and have made significant
efforts to work with the medical providers to assure that good communication
takes place in a setting of behavioral health and medical integration. |

to Robert Hill, APRN in the Homeless Health Care Program,
who is our September Employee of the Month. Bob is well liked by both
patients and staff, and splits his time by seeing homeless families
in the shelters, adults in our the Columbus Ave. Internal Medicine Department,
and Pediatrics at Columbus as well. We are pleased to honor him for
his fine work, and dedication to the mission. |
Another
team of individuals who are vital to helping assure that Hill Health Corporation
is paid for the good work being provided to our patients is our Team
of Coders. The Hill Health Corporation is unique in that
it now has 4 certified coders who participate in assuring that proper codes
are being utilized, with one of them in Ob/Gyn (Francesca Gonzalez), and
3 in Health Information (Andrea Morbidelli, Francesca Marnerakis, and
Donna Walker-Thomas. We are fortunate to have assembled such a team,
and we honor them as our August Department (or sub-department) of
the Month. |

join me in congratulating Lakeya Moye, Billing Coordinator
as our August Employee of the Month. Lakeya has done
excellent work in the Billing Department, is well respected by her co-workers,
and other staff who have had the pleasure in dealing with her.
She is professional in her work, and has been an important part of the Billing
Department's effort to bring in the dollars for the services being provided.

Congratulations
to our Laboratory staff, the July Department of
the Month. The staff have worked hard to make certain that
the laboratory tests performed for our patients meet the rigorous quality
standards. In addition, they have worked hard to make certain that
paperwork is processed quickly, and they have improved their turn around
time and collection of revenue. Keep up the good work.

to Carolyn Felix Ayala, Senior Clinician in the Child and
Family Guidance clinic for her outstanding work with the children and families
she cares for. She is extremely dedicated to her clients, does outreach
visits to them at their schools and homes. She is an extremely productive
provider and has taken on leadership responsibilities in her department
as Senior Clinician. We are grateful for the excellent work that she
is doing, and happy to name her as our July Employee of the Month.

to the SCRC Performance Improvement Team, for their participation
in a Robert Woods Johnson Foundation collaborative to improve patient
waiting time. Working hard utilizing the Performance Improvement
methodology, they have been successful in gradually reducing wait time
for admission to SCRC. We eagerly await the continuing efforts and
improvement. |

to Tiffany Lundeen, Certified Nurse Midwife, who is our
June Employee of the Month. Tiffany is well liked by patients
and staff, and has been instrumental in helping the Ob/Gyn Department maintain
morale during a time of transition. We are grateful to honor

to our West Haven Health Center, our May Department of
the Month. The staff at this clinic have worked very hard to make
certain that the residents of West Haven have a place to receive their
health care where they are treated with kindness and compassion. Providing
more encounters this year than at any year before, we are happy to

that they do. |

to Judy Diorio, Payroll Manager, who is our May Employee
of the Month. . While every employee takes for granted that
their paycheck will be there every two weeks, it is Judy who is instrumental
in making certain that this actually happens. Judy is very diligent
in her work, and someone who cares very much about the Hill Health Center
and the employees who she interacts with. We are pleased to recognize
her as the May Employee of the Month. |
Congratulations
to our Public Housing Department, our April Department of the Month.
Providing outreach services to residents of public housing in New Haven,
West Haven and Ansonia, their goal is to identify patients who need primary
care providers, and help get them in to our clinics. We are grateful
for their efforts and good work. |

to Diane Sherman-Carthens, CHW, who was our April Employee of the Month.
Diane works in many of our sites and departments, providing nursing assistance.
She is well liked by patients, who frequently ask where she is
working if she is not in the department where they are being seen.

As the first people to see our patients at this site, and the last to see them before they leave with a return appointment, the role they play is vitally important to patient satisfaction.
